Roger Seppala Obituary

Roger David Seppala 3/22/1928 - 4/23/2014 86, proudly served two years in the U.S. Navy. Graduated from Pacific Lutheran Univ. with a B.S. in Chemistry. Retired after 25 years with I.B.M. Active for 50+ years with the B.P.O.E. Past Exalted Ruler - Lodge #385. Roger was a proud first generation American, born to Finnish parents, David and Elvira Seppala; he was their only child. Grew up on the Iron Range in No. MN, speaking Finnish until he entered kindergarten. Moved with his parents to Tacoma, WA around the age of nine. He continued to enjoy a lifetime of salmon fishing in the pacific northwest. Married his Finnish sweetheart, Marietta Halinen on April 11, 1952, in Tacoma, WA. Roger is survived by wife, Marietta; sons, Marvin (Linda), Bryan (Lyne), Dwain (Lanetta), Kevin (Patty); daughter, Linda (Lloyd) Talbot; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Memorial Service: 5:00 p.m., Saturday, May 3, 2014 at BPOE Lodge, 1800 N. Oracle Rd., Tucson, AZ.

Uncle Roger, We thoroughly enjoyed our visits with you and Aunt Marietta through the years, even when it was clear that you completely disagreed with much that we said. That's who you were, a real character! We will miss you. Rest in peace.
