Stella HANSEN

HANSEN, Stella 87, of Tucson, AZ. Stella was born on May 24, 1929 in Winkelman, AZ. Sadly, on January 5, 2017, she lost her battle to a myriad of serious health issues that had plagued her over the past several years. Stella moved to Tucson in 1935 where she would eventually graduate and become part of Tucson High School's Class of 1947. It was at Tucson High where she met Hector Hansen (from the Class of 1946) who would become her soulmate and the love of her life. A few years later, in 1949, they would begin dating. Stella and Hector married in 1950. They knew they were blessed and fortunate to be able to celebrate 66 years of marriage this past November. After briefly attending the UA, Stella found employment as a clerk in the basement of the old Pima County Courthouse. Stella would remain employed by Pima County from the late 40s, all the way into their opening of the DMV on Ajo Way in the late 60s, where she worked as the Manager in the 70s until the State took over DMV operations in the early 80s. While balancing her time as a wife and mother of two boys, Stella also found time for community involvement like being a precinct committee woman, and being part of organizations like the Tucson Women's Commission, Una Noche Plateada and the Tucson High Alumni T Club. Stella is survived by her husband, Hector; sons Marko (Yihua), Gary; granddaughter, Samantha (TW); great-grandson, Cayden; sister, Rosemary Yancey of Tucson, and brother, Roy Delgado of WV.
