Susan ROBERTS Obituary

ROBERTS, Dr. Susan Daughter of Dr. Melvin and Ginny Roberts, went to be with the Lord on June 17, 2017. Susan was born on October 26, 1970. Susan was felled by a massive stroke. Besides her parents, she leaves a sister, Diana (Steve); her niece, Grace and two nephews, Skyler and Jesse. She also leaves her beloved cousins, Nannette Roberts and Belinda Thalheim (Kent); her aunt, JoAnne and uncle, Louis also survive her as well as her cousins, Teema and Chris. Susan grew up in Tucson, attended Sabino High School and the University of Southern California. She obtained her undergraduate and nursing degrees at USC as well as her masters in women's health and midwifery. She received her doctorate at the University of Colorado's Anschutz campus, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Following her graduation she worked with high risk pregnant women at Valley Perinatal in Phoenix. She was passionate about helping her high-risk patients deliver healthy babies. Even with her most desperately ill patients, she maintained a positive attitude. In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations to the Susan Roberts RN, DNP Endowment at the Tucson Medical Center Foundation, 5301 E. Grant Road, Tucson, Arizona 85712. Secure donations may also be made online at www.tmcfoundation.org. This endowment will support ongoing education programs for labor and delivery nurses, midwives and staff. Services will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 8051 E. Broadway at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 1, 2017.

I went to USC with Susan. I stayed at her studio city apartment many time when traveling back to the Central Valley of Califonia was inconvenient. Susan introduced me to different thought patterns and definitely showed me how to think outside of the box. I have searched for her many times over the years to no avail. I'm deeply saddened to find this information today. I realized this is not new information for most, but it is for me. Sad to see this shining soul has moved on...I can still hear her voice. Living energy at you Susan. You are missed.

Susan and I were classmates at USC. She was such a sweet person. We sat next to each other at graduation and had fun mimicking Dr Girandola, our Exercise Science professor, during the ceremony. I will miss her and her beautiful smile. God bless you all.

I had the privilege of working with Susan at the University of Colorado Hospital.. She was an enlightened soul who brought sunshine to everyone she came in contact with. Her wit and intelligence served her well . She was adored by all. My heart has a hole in it after hearing of her sudden passing, and I pray that her family find strength and peace in knowing that her special light will never burn out. God has big plans for His special angel...

Dr Dear Robert's Family:

I was a patient of Susan's in Colorado. She was one of my favorite Doctors I ever had. I was so sad when I heard she was leaving University of Colorado, so much so that I just went to look her up to see if she had possibly come back to the state so that I could go to her again. I was so saddened by the news of her passing and just wanted to let you know from a patient's perspective the lasting impact she had on me. She was a wonderful person, so warm and caring and funny - which is just what the women who went to see her, needed. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.

Sincerely, Courtney

At one of our infamous brunches. I will miss her forever.

Dearest Ginny, Mel & Diane,

I love Susan with my whole heart. We met and bonded over a love of Starbucks Refreshers, and being the same age, out here in Denver. We held each there's secrets, laughed, cried, laughed TILL we cried... spent summers at her pool, but mostly, we GREW, and loved each other so much. (I'm JoJo, or 'Jo' if that name rings a bell). The news of her passing shook her Denver community to its core. All her friends out here miss her TERRIBLY. The only thing that brings me really any comfort is, she spent her final years with YOU all. Her family. Her parents. And, that likely, she felt NO pain.
We are going to be putting on a memorial for all of us here in Colorado whom loved her and cherished her. She helped MANY people here in MANY ways. I want you to know that!
Also, she and I literally spent Nov. 6th, 2012 crazed and out of our minds happy to vote for Obama and proceeded to have a slumber party and eat all white foods, until we were ill. We were SO happy. SHE was so happy.
The breadth of her knowledge and her dedication to her patients and further schooling for her doctorate is and will always be profound. Her gifts were immeasurable. She had a prolific personality, laugh, and joy about her. She's a balloon we were all lucky enough to hold the string every now and again.
God bless you, sweet family. I will send endless prayers to you, and to all of us who ADORED HER!!!
God bless you. Bless you all.
Jo DeChenne or to Susan "ChoCHO" xoxo

Dear Dr. & Mrs. Roberts,
I just want to let you know I had the privilege to have Susan as my doctor in Denver. She honestly was the coolest and sweetest doctor. We had a great connection and I was so sad when she moved away but I knew it was for a good reason. I was happy for her. I remember her saying she wanted to move closer to her parents. I am so grateful I had a chance to meet her as we were preparing for our little girl's arrival. We were so blessed to meet her. I will always remember her and her loving spirit. Let the peace of God comfort you in this season.

Sincerely,
Topya Billingsley

Susan, I am going to write this to you in present-tense, as I believe you aren't truly 'gone' from our lives. Your life and energy is far too big, experiences far too fun, laughter far too loud, stories far too funny, love far too deep; for them to ever disappear...for those remain eternally every time we think of you. Heaven got an angel that is like any other. When you were on earth, you were an angel to so many....so continue doing your amazing work as you look over each of us. Thank you, for being one of my very best friends. I love you so very much. Until we meet again.

Dear Dr. Roberts & Family:

My son, Stacy Knight was a patient of yours in 1985. You treated him and did several surgeries on him due to a traumatic amputation. He was the same age as your beautiful daughter.
Sadly we lost Stacy in 2008 and I shall never forget your compassionate call to us at that time.
I am so sad to learn of the loss of your daughter. She was beautiful and talented. It is a terrible loss to lose a child. My heart goes out to you and your family. I shall send a prayer up to Stacy to give your precious Susan a hug for you.

Blessings,

Having dinner in Denver
