Ronald Emerson Orth It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of "Ron" Orth on March 22, 2013. He was born in Chicago, IL and died at the age of 83 in Tucson, AZ. He grew up and attended East High in Des Moines, IA, received his BS from Drake and his PhD from the University of Iowa where he met his loving wife of 57 years, Carolyn L. Orth. They were married in Frankfurt, Germany at St. Sebastian's Church in November 1955 where Ron was stationed in the Army. He was a professor of pharmacology at the Univ of Kentucky, Univ of Houston, and Univ of Arizona, and also performed Cancer R&D at Houston's MD Anderson. Ron retired from the Veteran's administration hospital as a lead pharmacist. He enjoyed traveling the world and was an avid fan of our local sports teams. Ron was active in Sr. Olympic Volleyball was involved in his local parish prayer group. He was a kind, loyal, patient, wise and charitable man - he lived his life well. Ron was preceded in death by his father, Blanchard and mother, Pearl and is survived by his wife, Carolyn Orth; their five children, Mark Orth (Kim), Steve Orth (Anita), Daniel Orth (Lisa), Robin Gastelum (Carlos), Kimberly Bianchini (John) and 12 grandchildren. A Visitation will be held at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY at 5801 E. Grant Road, Tucson, AZ on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. A Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 12:00 noon at St. Francis de Sales Parish, 1375 S. Camino Seco in Tucson, AZ with Graveside Services to follow at the East Lawn Palms Cemetery.
