Joseph Albert "Al" Bureau 85, of Tucson, passed away on March 2, 2014 at Casa de la Luz Hospice surrounded by family and friends. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL FUNERAL, 6910 E. Broadway Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85710. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cyril of Alexandria Church, 4725 E Pima St. Tucson, AZ, 85712. Burial will follow at All Faiths Memorial Park, 2151 S Avenida Los Reyes, Tucson. J. Albert Bureau was born in Manchester, NH to Albert O. and Simone (Leblanc) Bureau on December 2, 1928. Following graduation from St. Joseph High School in Manchester he entered the Trappist Abbey as Brother Brendan. After leaving the monastery he returned to Manchester where he met and married Constance J. Bourassa of Nashua, NH. They were married in February 1952. Al had a successful career in sales of a wide variety of products and services, including bibles, textbooks and worked for many years in the moving business. He served in the New Hampshire National Guard and belonged to the Lion's Club of Manchester. In 1971 he moved the family to Tucson, AZ where he continued to work as a moving consultant. Al immediately fell in love with the Sonoran Desert and enjoyed long walks and views of the mountains. He was a devout Roman Catholic and studied for the deaconate and was ordained a Deacon in the Catholic Church. In retirement, he remained active in the Church and volunteered at the Casa Maria Soup Kitchen. He enjoyed daily swims and walks. Al is preceded in death by his beloved Constance Juliette, wife of 50 years, and by grandson Christopher Riddle. He is survived by his children, Paula (H. Lawrence Smith), Peter (D. Kirk Hagy), Michelle (Wayne Wisniewski), Dolores and Matthew; brother, Charles Bureau; sisters, Jeanne Derome, Lorraine Biron, and Claire Scavone; grandsons, Adam Smith, Michael Daigle, and Nicholas Bureau-Gonzalez; great-granddaughter, Leah Riddle; nieces and nephews and long time friend Gloria Elias. In Al's memory donations may be made to the Casa Maria Soup Kitchen by check payable to the Casa Maria Catholic Worker, 401 East 26th Street, Tucson, AZ 85713.
