Philomena Angelina Ameruso Tarantola aka Mona Born in Brooklyn, New York on April 13, 1929 to Anthony and Margaret Ameruso. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Vincent Tarantola; by her parents, Anthony and Margaret Ameruso; her in-laws, Anthony and Josephine Tarantola; her brothers, Augie (Rose) Ameruso, Anthony (Mary) Ameruso; brother-in-law, James Angiulo; sister-in-law, Margaret (Joseph) Giordano and nephew, Jason Ameruso. Survived by her sister, Rosearia (Joseph) Scognamillo; and her sister-in-law, Nina Angiulo; her loving children, Anthony (Debbie), Vincent (Yvette) and Joanne (Romeo Vincent); her grandchildren, Marc-Anthony, Phylicia and Vinnie. Survived by her nieces and nephews, Sal (Lisa), Tina (Joseph), Marc, Laura, Steven (Lydia), John (Janice), Michael (Sarah), Jaime (Marc), Matthew (Maren), Joseph (Patty) and Paul (Yvonne) and many great-grand-nieces and nephews. Philomena started her career working for the National Guard for the Colonel in charge in Manhattan, New York, and was very proud that she was granted Security Clearance. After raising her three children, she started working at JC Penny in the credit department in Massapequa, New York. Years later she received a contingent transfer to Tucson, AZ. Philomena is very proud to be a member of the "WOW" group where she has many great friends. In her early years, Manhattan was her playground where she danced the night away. She loved cooking, baking and spending quality time with her family. Her all time favorite hobby was shopping. Philomena loved to travel anywhere from Disneyland with her grand kids to sailing the Southern Carribbean with Joanne and Phylicia and was extremely proud to watch her grandsons play baseball and receive college scholarships. We would like to extend a special thanks to Unit 500 at TMC for the excellent & loving care that was given to our mother & grandma. Services will be held at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. - Sunday, April 6, 2014. Visitation 2:00 p.m. -4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2014 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Monday. Tuesday, April 8, 2014. Burial Mass at 10:30 a.m. St. Pius X Catholic Church 1800 Camino Pio Decimo Tucson, AZ 85715 entombment to follow at East Lawn Cemetery .
