Karen Inez McCollum peacefully entered into Gods loving embrace on June 5, 2014. She passed in her sleep with her husband right where he has always been, beside her. Karen was born in Tucson on May 15, 1961 to Patricia and Carl Gremmler and has resided in Tucson all her life. Her love story began at a friend's pool party where she met Mark McCollum, and they were married in May of 1983. Their love story has continued for 31 years. Karen was a registered nurse who had worked as a charge nurse for Northwest Hospital. She also worked as a hospice home health nurse for many years helping others with their end of life transition. She was an extremely empathetic and caring person who always put the needs of others above her own. Karen was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and all who knew her always said what an amazing writer and poet she was. Karen is preceded in death by her daughter, Tanya and mother and father, Patricia and Carl Gremmler. She is survived by her husband, Mark; daughter, Megan (Ron); son, Timothy (Taryn) and two grandchildren, Sienna, Livia (and RJ coming in the fall) and her sister, Lisa (Tom) Lambeth and Kristen and Christopher. Services will be held Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius Catholic Church, 1800 N. Camino Pio Decimo with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the .
