Dorothy May Hall O'Brien born February 6, 1922 in Scranton, PA, died August 4, 2014 in Tucson, AZ. Married Patrick Cornelius O'Brien August 1, 1942. Dorothy is survived by sons, Kenneth O'Brien (Diane Stiso) and Robert O'Brien (Julie How); daughter, Patricia O'Brien Gard (Gary Gard); seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, four nieces, Barbara Hall Ursiny, Margie Scala, Janet Crumley and Merry Dearmon-Moore and two nephews, Richard Miller and Neil Miller. Dorothy lived on the east coast most of her early life, where she acquired a life-long affection for the Dodgers. Traveling much of her life as an "Army wife," she and the family settled in Benson in 1967, where she was involved in many community outreach programs through the Benson Women's Club. With her ready smile and generous heart, she had a special touch with children of all ages and cared deeply for animals as well. A note written to her by a staff member at her last residence, the Homestead on 18th Street, includes the following: "…you make people smile all around you." That, along with her loving family, was Dorothy's greatest legacy. Arrangements have been made through Tucson's EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY. Dorothy's family will host a Memorial remembrance on Saturday, October 18, 2014 in Tucson, to celebrate her life. Anyone who wishes to make a contribution in Dorothy's name, please do so to TMC Hospice, in recognition of the loving care they provided during her last months. Their mailing address is 5301 E. Grant Rd., Tucson, AZ 85712.
