Father Cyprian Killackey, OCD at 12 minutes after four in the afternoon of Monday, April 16, 2012, Father Cyprian Killackey entered eternal life at the University Medical Center. Father Cyprian was born at Eyrecourt, County Galway, Ireland on January 2, 1925. Father Cyprian began his formal studies for the priesthood at the Carmelite House of Studies in Dublin. He was ordained a Carmelite priest on July 13, 1952. The first eight years was spent in Ireland. But in 1960, was assigned to our monastery in Oakville, California. He was Novice Master for nine years. Then, he accepted a transfer to Santa Cruz parish here in Tucson and arrived on September 12, 1969. And that was when Father Cyprian began his ministry to the Mexican people for the next 42 years. He loved them and they loved him. He was pastor at both Santa Cruz and St. Margaret's church, alternating between the two parishes. Father Cyprian always had a great care and concern for so many and will be remembered as a "priest who strove every day to be a good friend to God's people!" May he REST IN PEACE! Visitation will be held Friday, April 20, 2012, 5:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church, 801 N. Grande Ave., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered Saturday, April 21, 2012, 10:30 a.m. at Santa Cruz Church, 1220 S. 6th Ave. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery.
