Richard Johnny Maldonado beloved husband, companion and friend passed away peacefully on March 28, 2013 at the young age of 66. He had a zest for life, he lit up a room when he walked in and had a gift of gab that could charm the spots off a leopard. He loved getting together with friends, walking his dog Sonny, dancing and being with his family. He was very involved in Kenwakai Karate and had earned a black belt within a span of three years under the guidance of his Shihan Makoto Kamiya. Rich was born in Tucson November 11, 1946, served in the Air Force from February 1967 - March 1969, graduated from ASU and was in social work until he retired June 2011. He is survived by Vicki his wife of 35 years; his mother, Mercy Canalez; brother, Robert Maldonado (Valery); sons, Richard G. (Myra) and Jimmy Clarke (Michelle); daughters, Monica Maldonado, Kelli Reinstra (Bob) and Kerri Johnson (Derek); 14 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and his nephews, Mario and Damon Maldonado. There will be a Celebration of his Life at his home at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 6, 2013. Donations may be made in his memory to the Humane Society or any organization that helps children.
