Joel Blutfield passed away April 3, 2013 at TMC after a far too brief battle with cancer. Born, September 4, 1949 on Staten Island, New York, Joel was raised in South Plainfield, New Jersey. He received his Masters of Arts in Teaching at Northern Arizona University in 1976. After teaching a year in Phoenix, he moved to Tucson and spent 32 years with TUSD as a G.A.T.E teacher and as part of the D.E.S.S.E.R.T Project. In his retirement, Joel got back to one of his favorite loves, baseball. He was an active member of T.O.T.'s (Tucson old timer's baseball league). Joel was a Big Brother to two young men, and was very active with hiking, running, biking, and swimming. Joel is survived by his wife, Vicki; daughter, Sarah and son, Tim. Joel is also survived by his sister, Carole and brother, Daniel; two nieces and a nephew, all residing in New Jersey. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 8, 2013 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.
