Charlotte Susan Komar Passed away peacefully at Peppi's House on September 10, 2013. Born at home in Dearborn, MI on February 27, 1938. She attended the University of Michigan, graduating in 3½ years with a major in Sociology. After two years as a military spouse at DMAFB the family returned to Ann Arbor, MI for four years, later moving back to Tucson in 1968. Her many volunteer activities include delivering Mobile Meals for more than 20 years, serve as a leader for Girl Scouts and as a Den Mother and Merit Badge Counselor for the Boy Scouts and was proud to see all four sons achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. She was a member of the Assistance League from 1979 to 1987. She had an ongoing passion for reading and embroidery. She was a long term member of the Embroiderers Guild of America and served as President of the Tucson Chapter three times. She enjoyed travel, especially to Italy and London. She loved every birthday, family togetherness at holiday times, graduation, grandchild and granddog. Charlotte is survived by her husband of 53 years, Norman N. Komar, MD; children, Scott (Chris) of Carmel, CA, Susan Scott of Tucson, William Komar (Carla) of La Crescenta, CA, Paul Komar(Jackie) of Tucson and Dr. Jonathan Komar (Clara) of Scottsdale. Also survived by sister, Donalda Alder of Tigard, OR; nine grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews. A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. A gathering for family and friends will immediately follow at the Arizona Inn to celebrate her life. Special thanks to Dr. Joe Buscema, the Nurses and Staff at Arizona Oncology for their care and compassion in treating her.
