MITCHELL, Elizabeth "Betty" Seabury, age 99, of Oro Valley, AZ passed peacefully on September 22, 2013 at her residence with her family by her side. Born in Oak Park, IL on September 16, 1914 to Louise and Charles Ward Seabury. She grew up in Oak Park and spent the summers at Crystal Lake in Northwest Michigan with her family. Married Joseph Hibben of Cleveland, OH and lived in Glenview, IL and later to John Mitchell of Evanston, IL and resided in Winnetka, IL, Oro Valley, AZ and Beaulah, MI. One of her many interests was her love of horses and horseback riding, which started with shared rides with her Dad. She had a tremendous love of dogs and owned many throughout her life. Later in life Betty and her husband, John traveled throughout the west collecting Native American artifacts for a museum that they established in Evanston, IL. She followed in her parents' footsteps doing charitable work for organizations worldwide. Betty travelled the world and adopted many orphan children along the way. She is a mother of four, survived by her son, Barry Hibben (Helga Gabriel) and granddaughters, Brandy and Jamie and her daughter, Bonnie Hibben. There will be a celebration of her life when the greater family gathers again at Crystal Lake in the coming summer.
