Leslie "Les" F. Calkins 94, of Tucson, AZ born November 25, 1919 in Webster City, IA passed away May 13, 2014. Les served in the Army/Air Corp during WWII and the Air Force during the Korean war. He was honorably discharged 1953 and went to work at MASDC on DMAFB, AZ until his retirement in 1975. He was preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Peggy (Louie) Sorensen; his son, Bud Calkins and son-in-law, Gene Hurley. He is survived by his wife, Ann of 64 years; daughter, Judy Hurley (John Scanlan); daughter-in-law, Marilynn Calkins; grandchildren, Thaddeus and Melissa Sorensen, Katrina (Jason) Woodward and Ryan (Lisa) Calkins; great-grandchildren, Kevin Sorensen, Connor and Weston Woodward and many other family members. Les enjoyed bbq's with family and neighbors, bowling, UofA sports, and in his later years he enjoyed going to bingo where he amazed people by winning playing one strip (3 cards). There will be a Graveside Service Friday, June 6, 2014 at South Lawn Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. A "Celebration of Life" will be held at the Knights of Columbus, 1330 S. Mountain View Ave., from 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Arrangements by DESERT ROSE HEATHER MORTUARY.
