NORTHPORT Hazel Cook, age 86, of Northport, died April 17, 2013, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Pope and Rev. Greg Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her son, Phil Cook; her parents, Harvey and Effie Moore; and her brothers, Don, Doug and Howard Moore.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel W. Cook; daughters, Sherry Jenkins (Peter) and Melissa Oswalt (Gary); very special sister and brother-in-law, Jan and J.W. Hudson; brother, Jim Moore; grandchildren, Jason Channell (Casey), Zach Oswalt, Max Oswalt; two step grandsons, Johnny and Wim Jenkins, five step great-grandchildren, Daina, Martha, Griff, Florian and Finn; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Hazel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all. She was an integral part of her grandchildren's life during their early years and continued to be an inspiration to the entire family. She enjoyed a long nursing career. She was a woman of faith and prayer which helped her through her battle with breast cancer
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jason Channell, Zach Oswalt and Max Oswalt, brother-in-law, J.W. Hudson; and nephews, Rick Burroughs and Paul Sturdivant.
Honorary pallbearers are church family of Northport Church of God, friends and neighbors of Martin Road, Pauline and Clyde Burroughs, JoAnn Moore, Awford Cook, Catherine Cook, Mary Gregg, Ann Pate, Edna Marcum, Margaret Tierce, Nell Sanders Hughes, Criss Hays, and Jim and Christine Moore.
