REFORM James Harold "Doc" Ashcraft, age 84, of Reform, died Dec. 14, 2012, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brannon Pinion and Rev. Lee Vail officiating. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, V.L. Ashcraft; and his sister, Annie Grace Vail.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Norwood Ashcraft of Reform, Ala.; his daughters, Dawn Rollins and husband, Bill of Dothan, Ala. and Tina Smith of Alpharetta, Ga.; his sons, James Harold Ashcraft Jr. and wife, Julie of Huntsville, Ala. and Mark Ashcraft of Reform, Ala.; his grandchildren, James, Mary Frances, Beth Anne, and John Ashcraft, Ashley Rollins, and Keely Smith; and nieces and nephews, Julanne Troha, Lee Vail, Fan Pigford, Jeanne Fort, and the late Scotty Norwood.
James Harold "Doc" Ashcraft was born August 4, 1928, in Reform, Alabama to the late Virgil Lee Ashcraft and Mattie Belle Fitzgerald Ashcraft. He was a former mayor of Reform, Ala., serving three terms. He was a U.S. Navy
veteran and a well known resident of Pickens County.
Pallbearers will be James Ashcraft, John Ashcraft, Brad Troha, Jeff Troha, Lee Vail, Brody Vail, Bill Rollins, and Donnie Babb.
