James Peden Adcock

ALICEVILLE James Peden “Big Jim” Adcock, age 67, of Aliceville, died May 7, 2011, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at Aliceville Family Worship Center with Rev. Carl Stiles officiating. Burial will follow in Franconia-Oak Grove Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Culberson “Jackie” Adcock; his daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Terry Thomas; and his parents.

Survivors include his daughter, Teresa Dunlap (Jimmy) of Soso, Miss.; his sons, Raymond Konshak of West Memphis, Ark., Bill Konshak of Aliceville, Ala., Bob Adcock of Fayette, Ala., and James “Jim” Adcock (Brandy) of Aliceville, Ala.; his sisters, Barbara Jacobs and Ruby Terry, both of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Louise Cassidy of Jacksonville, Fla., Thelma Bunn of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Helen Cline of Ozark, Ala.; his brothers, Frank Adcock of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Rufus Adcock of Philadelphia, Miss., and Joe Adcock of Ozark, Ala.; nine grandchildren, Melissa Mize (Jason) of Gordo, Amanda Thompson (James) of Gordo, Jaime Beasley (Ben) of Brandon, Miss., Nathan Konshak of Sacramento, Calif., Michaela Witkowski of Sacramento, Calif., Kaye Ballenger (Robert) of Gordo, Sarah Konshak of Gordo, and Tatum Adcock and Tanley Adcock, both of Aliceville; and several great-grandchildren.

Mr. Adcock was born July 16, 1943, in Preston, Miss. to the late Lewis Adcock and Annie Anthony Adcock. He was a retired employee of the Aliceville Cotton Mill and a well-known resident of Pickens County.

Pallbearers will be Danny Jacobs, James Thompson, Ron Payne, Richard Deramus, Allen McCrary, and Brian McCrary.
