ALICEVILLE Joel Orin Barnhart, III, age 69, of Aliceville, died Feb. 24, 2010, at Hospice of West Alabama. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at Franconia – Oak Grove Cemetery with Rev. Charlie Wilson and Rev. John Nicholson officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joel Orin Barnhart, II, and his mother, Anne Clothier Barnhart.
Survivors included his wife, Frances Colvin Barnhart of Aliceville, Ala.; daughter, Alicia Jackson (Jeff) and grandson, Carter of Houston, Texas; son, Chris Brown (Cheri) and grandson, Mitchell of The Colony, Texas; step-daughter, Tammy Junkin (Lance) of Anniston, Ala.; sister, Nancy Barnhart of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; brother, David Barnhart (Debra) and nieces, Erin and Rachel, all of Atlanta, Ga.
Mr. Barnhart was a graduate of the University of Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, Texas with a B.S. Degree in Technical Agriculture. For 27 years he was in management in the textile industry with his last position as Vice President of Manufacturing with Fruit of the Loom in Lexington, S.C. For the past eleven years, he was owner of Aliceville Classic Cleaners. He worshiped at Aliceville First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Sojourners Sunday School Class.
Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Colvin, Joe Powell, Jimmy Clanahan, Joe Cook, J.T. Junkins, Richard Knox, W.R. McKinzey, John A. Russell, III, Butch Reed, Leroy Holladay, Pete Puckett and members of the Sojourners Sunday School Class.
