Margaret Helene Armingeon

TUSCALOOSA Margaret Helene Armingeon, age 94, of Tuscaloosa, died peacefully Thursday, April 29, 2010, at LaRocca Nursing Home. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2010, at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home with Father Jerry Deasy officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

She was born in December 1915 in Birmingham, Alabama and was married to Carl Armingeon for 61 years. They moved to Tuscaloosa in 1950. Helene devoted her life to her family and had a wonderful, long life and was loved dearly by her husband Carl and her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Al Henning; her husband, Carl Armingeon; her brother, Fred Henning; and her grandson, Alex Mason.

Helene is survived by her three children, Carlene Jones of Tuscaloosa, Neil Armingeon (Nan) of Jacksonville, Fla., and Patti Mason (Scott) of Birmingham; three grandchildren, Blake Jones of Lake View, Cristin Jones of Tuscaloosa, and Carly Mason of Birmingham; her sister-in-law, Mary Catherine Henning of Birmingham; her brothers-in-law, Ralph Armingeon (Irene) of Bradenton, Fla. and Louis Williams of Huntsville; and nieces and nephews.

She was an active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church for over 60 years, and a member of several study clubs and bridge clubs. She took great pleasure playing bridge, reading books, and traveling. Most of all, she enjoyed taking care of her family.

Honorary pallbearers are Dusty Pressley, Dr. Ross Vaughn, Clara Cameron, and the nursing staff of LaRocca Nursing Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Holy Sprit Catholic Church or the Tuscaloosa Public Library.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be missed by all who knew her.
