NORTHPORT Margie Nell Clark Gilliam, age 69, of Northport, passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2012. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Korey Kizziah officiating. Burial will follow in Fayette Memorial Gardens with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Margie Nell was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Gilliam; her parents, James Fred and Jewell Edna Nichols Clark of Fayette; and her granddaughter, Bobbie Ann Tingle.
Survivors include her daughters, Debbie Marlowe and Mona Hahn, both of Northport; her grandchildren, Paul Tingle. Matthew Marlowe, Misty Marlowe, and Mason Turner; her great-grandchildren, Robert Jones and Zoe Marlowe; her sister, Lyda Black of Northport; and her brothers, Jerry Clark of Eutaw, Darrell Clark of Trussville, and Hal Gaines Clark of Homewood.
Born in Fayette, Alabama, Margie Nell lived in various cities across the United States, finally settling in Northport where she has resided since 1980. Margie was a kind and loving individual and remained a faithful and strong presence within her family. Margie retired from the federal government with over 35 years of experience and was a professional who was dedicated and always optimistic about changes taking place around her.
Pallbearers will be Mason Turner, Matthew Marlowe, David Hahn, Kipp Clark, David Black, and Greg Clark.
