Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens at 3 p.m. with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be today from 12 noon until service time at the church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Rose Martel; and sisters, Mabel Taylor, Mildred Almaguere, and Marlene Menier.

Survivors include her daughter, Melinda Sue Foster of Coaling; sons, David Kelly Foster (Terri) and Brian Keith Foster (Lisa), all of Coaling, and Paul Finas Foster (Erin) of Frisco, Texas; sister, Madeline Berzas (Jamie) of Mamou, La.; brother, Melvin Martel (Linda) of Dalton, Ga.; the father of her children, Charley Foster of Coaling; grandchildren, Cole Foster, Chris Foster, Tyler Foster, Zach Foster, Phillip Foster, Amber Foster, Ethan Foster, Clay Foster, Logan Foster, Cristal Townsend, and Todd Johnson; great-grandchildren, Cameron Foster and Will Townsend; numerous Foster brothers and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.

She was a loving and generous mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was born and raised in Eunice, La. and was a true Cajun at heart. She made the best gumbo in the world.

After getting married, she moved to Holt, Ala. She cherished her Friday lunch dates with her best friends. Later moving to the farm in Coaling, Ala. she had a close relationship with her Foster brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She attended all of their athletic and school events and always carried her aluminum chair with her. She was an avid Auburn fan and bled orange and blue. Her Auburn pom was proof of that. She enjoyed her soap operas and occasionally joined in painting with the Coaling Art Club. She had the most generous heart for her kids and grandkids and didn't let them leave without asking, “Do you have money?” or, “Let me pay for that.”

A lasting memory will be her new great-grandson, Cameron, the namesake of her favorite Auburn player, sitting with her on her hospital bed. She will be missed by all who knew her, but we know she is at peace and rejoicing in a perfect body with loved ones. We are sure her first words of amazement in Heaven were, “I'll swanee.” We love you, Nannie!

Pallbearers will be Cole Foster, Chris Foster, Tyler Foster, Zach Foster, Phillip Foster, Clay Foster, Ethan Foster, Logan Foster, and Todd Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers are employees of Foster & Associates, members of Coaling United Methodist Church, staff of Hospice of West Alabama, Sammie Stacy, Jo Cooper, Nell Rigby, Wanda and Rick Wilson, Peggy and John Plumb, and Dorothy Chapman.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Coaling United Methodist Church or Hospice of West Alabama.
