COTTONDALE Oscar Ray Wallace, age 84, of Cottondale, died March 4, 2013, at Northport Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Ronnie Holmes officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Ida Maxine Wallace of Cottondale; son, Don Wallace (Debbie) of Cottondale; brother, Ronald Wallace of Tuscaloosa; grandchildren, Tiffany Davis and Joshua Andrew Drew Wallace
Mr. Wallace was born on August 19, 1928 and went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 4, 2013. He retired from the U.S. Navy
after serving his country for 20 years. During his years of service, he was in both the Korean Conflict
and Vietnam War
. Oscar retired a second time from the VA Hospital as Assistant Police Chief
. Oscar was a caring and loving man who was inseparable from his wife of 57 years even in his final minute. He always had a smiling face. Oscar loved his grandchildren more than anything else on earth and was so proud of their accomplishments. He was a good man, caring husband, kind father, and a loving grandfather. He loved God deeply. He will be in our memories forever.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Joe James, Jerry Marks, Jake Jones, Colton Jones, Eric Shuman, Calvin Parker, and Doug Dailey.
Honorary pallbearers are paramedics of Rescue 21 TFD, the ER staff of Northport Medical Center, Dr. Ahmed Moussa, Station 3 Heritage Health Care and employees, Dr. Larry Skelton, neighbors of Long Meadow Drive, Cottondale Baptist Church, Mark Cunningham, and the Northport Police Department.
