BERRY Raiford Swindle, age 87, of Berry, died March 5, 2013, at home. Cryptside services will be 12 noon today at Serenity Chapel Mausoleum in Sunset Memorial Park with Rev. Terry Joe Oswalt officiating and Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Anne Swindle; his wife, Bertha Swindle; uncle, John Gilbert Swindle; and sister, Opal Redd.
Survivors include his sons, Bobby Swindle (Judy) and Ken Swindle (Jill); grandchildren, Jeremy Swindle (Kelly) and Jamie Shaw (Nick); and great-grandchildren, Kara and Adeline Swindle and Riley Shaw.
Mr. Swindle was born in Samantha, Ala., in 1926 and attended Windham Springs School. He lived through the depression and was drafted into the U.S. Military and served in Iwo Jima. He returned home and attended school under the G.I. Bill. He and his father, Rufus, farmed their family land in Samantha. He married Bertha Keith and they raised their family on the farm. He later went to work as a mental health worker at Bryce Hospital. He retired in 1988 and continued living on the family farm where he passed away. Paw Paw was a loving father and grandfather. Now we are missing the second link in our chain, but we know he and our mom are reunited and happy again in Heaven.

The family also wishes to acknowledge a very special friend and caregiver, Sandy Keith.
