RICHMOND, Va. | Dr. D.A.R. (Al) Peyman, 93, died in Richmond, Va., December 29, 2013. He was born in Vancouver, Canada in 1920. He was married to Anne Peyman for 51 years before her death in 1997.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Wood Peyman; four daughters, Carol Dunn, Kathy Peyman, Peppy Woll, Linda Dove; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Al earned a doctorate in psychology and taught at the University of Washington before moving south to join the faculty of the University of Alabama. He went on to head the Psychology Department of Alabama's state mental hospital, and then on to Mississippi State University in 1975 as head of the Psychology Department, a post he held until his retirement in 1990. He continued to teach for several years as emeritus head of the department. In his personal and professional life he touched the lives of many. He had just celebrated a wonderful holiday with his family and will be deeply missed.
A celebration of his life will be planned for a later date.
