BROOKWOOD | Troy Rodney Abston, age 74, of Brookwood, died January 11, 2014, at Northport Medical Center. Graveside Services will be 2 p.m. today, January 14, 2014, at Memory Hill Gardens with Rev. Gary Youngblood officiating and Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret R. Abston; his mother, Etta Mae C. Abston; and his father, Troy Abston.
Survivors include his daughter, Rodna Ann Larson (Gregg); brother, W.A. Abston and sister-in-law, Shirley B. Abston; and grandchildren, Mallory K. Larson, Ansley M. Larson and August T. Larson.
He attended Livingston University and graduated from The University of Alabama with a degree in accounting. He was a self-employed businessman and served as a councilman on the first Brookwood City Council. He was a member of the Masons and Shriners. He was a passionate fan of Alabama football and a competitor and fan of NHRA drag racing. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Stephen D. Browne, nurses and staff at Northport Medical Center, former employees of Abston Construction CO., the Class of 1958 Brookwood High School, and all friends from Brookwood.
