FAYETTE Betty Barrett Adams, age 63, of Fayette, died Aug. 20, 2012, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 11 a.m. today at Nelson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Raymond Fowler and Rev. Tony Aldridge officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Nelson Funeral Home of Fayette directing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Olen and Corene Barrett, and her brother, Sunny Barrett.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Bobby Adams Sr. of Fayette; her son, Bobby Adams Jr. of Fayette; her stepdaughter, Regina Swindle of Fayette; her daughter-in-law, Tammy Adams of Tuscaloosa; her sisters, Janice Jones (Robert) of Fayette and Judy Hudson Herron (Johnny); her brothers, John Larry Barrett (Kathy) of Fayette and Ronnie Barrett (Linda) of Fayette; her sister-in-law, Joann Barrett; and her granddaughter, Rosie Adams of Tuscaloosa.
Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was born Sept. 21, 1948, in Kennedy and graduated from Kennedy High School in 1966. She retired from West Alabama Mental Health, where she worked for over 20 years. She was a member of Trinity Church of God. She loved singing gospel music and traveling with family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Blanton, Brian Barrett, Ben Barrett, Heath Barrett, Jon Barrett, and O.J. Dixon.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Martha Jo Christian and nurses of Fayette Home Health.
