NORTHPORT C.A. McDaniel, age 87, of Northport, died April 4, 2013, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. David Tunnell and Rev. James "Ruba" Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Charline McDaniel; parents, W.A. and Tommie McDaniel; brother, Charles McDaniel; and grandsons, Tate McDaniel, Scottie Kelley, and Adam Lee.

Survivors include his daughters, Debbie Sanford (Donald), Gayle Burkhalter (Norman), Virginia McDaniel, and Cecile Waldrop (Ken); sons, Johnny McDaniel (Darlene), Tommy McDaniel, Joe McCoy (Liz), and David McCoy (Eve); sisters, Helen Davis and Ruth Hughes; sister-in-law, Nancy McDaniel; 12 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked at Bryce Hospital for 48 years. He was a great provider for his family. He loved to hunt, fish, and play softball, and was inducted into the West Alabama Softball Hall of Fame in 1997.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Sanford, Ronald Cameron, Jason Mellown, Johnny Kennon, Donald Hester, Kenny McLendon, Shane McDaniel, and Craig McDaniel.

The family gives special thanks to his guard dog, "Little Bit," George Miller, John Miller, Hospice of West Alabama, DCH Home Health Care, Winn Dixie Pharmacy, staff of Mr. Bill's, Caring Mission, West Alabama Fast Pitch Assoication, and Kenny, Cherry, and Susan McLendon.

We also give a big thank you to Lynda Holt and Toya Prewitt for loving and taking such good care of our Daddy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
