NORTHPORT - David Ray Cannon, age 53, of Northport, Ala., died September 5, 2018 at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Campground United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Wilson and Bennett Limbaugh officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be 6 p.m. tonight, September 8, 2018, at Magnolia Chapel North. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Cannon; and his grandparents, Roy and Vera Nell Cannon Cabiness.
Survivors include his daughter, Danielle Caroline Cannon (fiancé, Dalton Lambert) of Northport; mother, Ruth Miles Cannon of Northport; stepchildren, Courtney Fulmer (Mike) of Florida, Steven Fulmer (Lillian) of Tuscaloosa, Lisa Hubbard (Eric) of Tuscaloosa and Justin Wesley (Jessica) of Pensacola, Fla.; step-grandchildren, Nevaeh Fulmer, Cassie Letourneau, Ashton Morris, John Weston, Colton and Henry Hubbard.
David loved and cherished his time reading the Bible, watching Alabama football and loving on his children and grandchildren. He also loved being a mentor, especially when it came to teaching about mechanics, just like his dad.
Honorary pallbearers are all of his friends and family that helped make his journey on earth a memorable one. We also want to include the doctors and nurses in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa for taking care of him these past three years. Most importantly, we want to include the staff of Hospice of West Alabama and especially Sandy, his nurse that took care of him his final moments on earth with us.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama in his honor and for others battling cancer.
