TUSCALOOSA Deidra Kay Holloway, age 47, of Tuscaloosa, died Jan. 10, 2013, at UAB Hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Chapel Church with Rev. Jerry Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her father, J.B. Holloway, and her brother, Ronnie Holloway.

Survivors include a special friend, Mike Smelley; her mother, Berthalene Holloway; her sisters, Loretta Skelton (James Roy) and Sandra Holloway; her brothers, Jimmy Holloway (Gail) and Kenny Holloway (Deborah); her nieces, Stephanie Hicks (Matt), Lindsey Prescott (Lee), and Brittany Pritchett; her nephews, Michael Shelton (Ande') and Jason Mitchum; her great-nieces, Anna Morgan Shelton and Khloe Pritchett; and her great-nephews, Kaine and Kaden Prescott, Davis Shelton, and Will Hicks.

Deidra was well-known and loved for her singing voice. She volunteered her musical abilities to the community throughout her life. She was able to touch lives in ways others could not. Deidra was always available for others with a listening ear and a tender heart. She worked most of her life in the medical field, where she met many of her friends.

Deidra had a place in her heart for everyone she met and for animals. Deidra often adopted dogs and cats in need of shelter. She was capable of nursing these animals into great companions.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Holloway, Terry Holemon, Vince Montgomery, Rex Montgomery, Jackie Houston, Bert Guy, Billy Galloway, and Rocky Montgomery.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Bassett, Dr. King and staff, godchildren Riley and Raylyn Allen, and her many friends and relatives.
