TUSCALOOSA - Deloris Warrick, age 69, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2018 at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018, at 12 p.m. at Weeping Mary Baptist Church with Reverend Tyshawn Gardner officiating. Burial will be at Memory Hills Gardens with Van Hoose and Steele Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be Friday, August 10, 2018, from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Van Hoose & Steele. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.'s Omega Omega Ceremony will be held immediately following visitation from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. and is open to the public.
She is survived by her most prized accomplishment, her daughter, Xzaquoinett Y. Warrick, of Washington, D.C. and her much beloved mother, Ella Odessa Warrick, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She is also survived by her sister, Beverly A. Wilson of Atlanta, Georgia and brother, Willie "Charles" Warrick of Chicago, Illinois. She will also be fondly remembered by her niece, Dr. Jacquelyn Curry-Reasor; and nephews, Stan Wallace, Sean Wallace, Kenwan Wilson, Hunter Warrick, William Warrick and Malik Warrick.
Deloris truly lived her life to the fullest. When she walked into the room, her presence was known by her affectious laughter and her sense of humor.
Deloris was known as a community activist who believed in social justice.
She was a loyal and dedicated member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated – Tuscaloosa Alumnae Chapter where she served on a plethora of committees.
She was a proud graduate of the Druid High School - Class of 1967 and Stillman College.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Warrick; and nephew, Marcus Wallace.
