Elease Montgomery Koon

GORDO Elease Montgomery Koon, age 83, of Gordo, died March 27, 2013, at Pickens County Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2013, at Gordo First Baptist Church with Rev. David Singleton officiating. Burial will follow in Gordo City Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the services at the church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Clay Crawford Koon; her parents, sister, Lucille Kirk; and brothers, Clyde P. Montgomery and Hayes Montgomery.

Survivors include her daughter, Toni Koon Harper and husband, Mack; son, Terry Layne Koon and wife, Ritta; three grandchildren, Jessica Layne Koon Sexton (Randall), Claire Harper, and Lance Phillip Koon; and four great-grandchildren, Kierston Franklin, Cameron Sexton, Will Sexton, and Abigail Sexton.

Mrs. Koon was born February 5, 1930 in Echola, Alabama to the late Richard Smith Montgomery and Mary Hayes Montgomery. She was a graduate of Tuscaloosa County High School, a homemaker and a member of Gordo First Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be deacons of Gordo First Baptist Church.

Honorary pallbearers are members of her Sunday School class at Gordo First Baptist Church, neighbors in the Fairview community, Maybelle Goodman and the staff of Salem Nursing and Rehab Center.
