She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Connell; two sons, Billy Connell of Gordo, Ala. and David Connell of Belk, Ala.; her parents; and nine siblings.
Survivors include three daughters, Christy Stephens (David) of Gordo, Ala., Patricia Kramer of Gordo, Ala., and Shirley Lipscomb of Cleveland, Tenn.; two sons, Steve Connell of Belk, Ala. and Tony Connell of Enterprise, Ala.; one sister, Ola Mae O'Bryant of Gordo, Ala.; a very special sister-in-law, Bobbie Sue Conner of Northport, Ala.; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren, with one due in July. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who always loved visiting Aunt Eunice's house and daughters-in-law who love her still.
Mrs. Connell was born in Gordo, Alabama to the late Leslie L. Conner and Mary Agnes Dolly Gallant Conner on June 30, 1929, and would have been 84 this year. She was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church and a retired employee of Weyerhaeuser. Eunice was a life long resident of Gordo, and prior to her death she had been a resident of Glen Haven Nursing Home in Northport. In spite of the many difficulties of raising seven kids and losing her husband at a relatively young age she worked hard, manual labor jobs. Yet, she was a happy person who people of all ages liked to be around.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Scott Connell, Chad Connell, Eric Johnson, Jason Stephens, Ricky Baines, and Joe McAteer.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404.
