REFORM Frances Drake Ashmore, age 94, of Reform, died Sept. 29, 2010, at Aliceville Manor Nursing Home. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at Reform First United Methodist Church with Rev. Rayford Etherton officiating. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to service at the church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Arland Ashmore; son, Charles Wayne Ashmore, an infant son; her parents; brother, John Drake; and sisters, Julia Alsabrook and Erin Slocumb.
Survivors include two grandchildren, William Boyett Ashmore and Suellen Ashmore Gibson (Larry); daughter-in-law, Patsy Ashmore Guthrie; sisters, Sara Henderson and Charlena Wade; four great-grandchildren, John William Ashmore, Anna Leigh Ashmore, Reagan Elizabeth Gibson, and William Clay Gibson.
Mrs. Ashmore was born May 17, 1916 in the Liberty community to the late Charlie Taylor Drake and Bessie Woodard Drake. In 1948 Frances and her husband, Arland started a general store in Reform which became Reform Mercantile Company, Inc. and then Ashmore's Associated Foods. She was a mentor for generations of young people and went on to become Reform's 1997 Citizen of the Year. Frances encouraged her great grandchildren with stories of her high school championship basketball team and her graduating as senior class salutatorian. Frances was a member of Reform First United Methodist Church and a life long resident of Pickens County.
