MCCALLA Captain, 75th Field Hospital, U.S. Army Reserves, age 62, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at home. She was born on October 30, 1951, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Adrian Gautney and Christine Leavelle and her step-fathers, Harold Shaul and Erman Leavelle.
After graduating from Tuscaloosa High School in 1970, Gail received her nursing degree from the University of Central Arkansas and dedicated her life to nursing for 35 years. In her continuous pursuit of learning, she received her Master of Science in Nursing from The University of Alabama at Birmingham and was a Nurse Practitioner for the last 16 years. During her nursing tenure, she held various positions including Nursing Supervisor, Emergency Room Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Instructor.
Gail received the Army Achievement Award for meritorious service with the 75th Field Hospital and was a recipient of the Alabama State Board of Nursing Scholarship for graduate studies. She was also a member of Sigma Theta Tao International Nursing Honor Society in undergraduate nursing curriculum.
Gail touched many people's lives with her selfless generosity and unconditional love. There are no words to describe her love for her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 20 years, David B. Acre; daughters, Adria Ellis, Erica Gambrell (Robert), Patricia Webber (Jason) and Robin Crowell (Tim); sisters, Jane Larkins (Mike) and Becky Norris (Lonnie), brothers, Alan Shaul (Terri) and Harry Shaul; and grandchildren, Lauren Gambrell; Allyssa Crowell and Scott Trull; and numerous other nieces and nephews and cherished friends.
Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Friday, November 29, 2013, at Memory Chapel, 2200 Skyland Blvd. East, Tuscaloosa. A visitation will be held prior to the memorial service from 6 to 7 p.m. Kathy Reed, Associate Pastor of First Presbyterian Church will lead the service. Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, is directing.
