COVINGTON, La. Hazel Padgett Romero, age 79, of Covington, La., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 22, 2013. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Hope Mausoleum, 4841 Canal St., New Orleans, La.

She was the beloved mother of Camille Romero Reed (Robert) of Northport, Ala.; and Victoria Romero (Glen Palmer) of Birmingham, Ala.; grandmother of Kathryn Palmer, Olivia Romero-Reed and William Bryson Reed; sister of Carolyn Padgett Hackler and the late Camille Padgett Brown.

A native of New Orleans, La. and a resident of Covington, La. for 15 years, she was a retired secretary with the U.S. Forest Service. She was a member of Trinity Church of Covington and supported the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation.
