TUSCALOOSA Herman Maurice Mar Lowe, age 90, husband, father, and friend went to be with the Lord on September 26, 2013. Services and internment will be 2 p.m., Sunday, September 29, 2013, at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Lizzie Lowe; sister, Leona Lindsey; and brother, Curtis Lowe.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Lorine Poole Lowe; his children Phillip Waldrop (Susan) and Olan Waldrop (Rachel); grandchildren, Courtney Mobley (Nick), Jonathan Waldrop, Amy Chase (Steven), and Natalie Madden (Jason); great grandchildren, Alysha and Tessa Graham, Emma, Hannah, and Abigail Madden, and Samuel, Sophia, and Asa Mobley; sister, Mildred Hollingsworth; brothers, Cecil and Gilbert Lowe; and several nieces and nephews.
Mar worked 28 years at Perry's Pride Ice Cream Company and 12 years at Shelton State Community College, where, among other duties, he drove the bus for the baseball team. In his younger days, he raced motorcycles around the Southeast. He was a bird hunter, but loved the dogs more than the hunting. He was very active in the community and always helped others. Many of his practical jokes were legendary in the community.
The family would like to thank his wonderful caregivers, Mary Elliot, Brenda Dixon, Monique Lewis, and Laine Kittrell; also Dr. Clint McEntyre and the nurses of DCH Third Floor MICU.
