FAYETTE Joyce White Pender, age 71, of Fayette, died Sept. 26, 2013, at home. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Elbethel-Buncomb Methodist Church Cemetery with Bro. Jerry Montgomery and Bro. Shorty Rice officiating and Nelson Funeral Home of Fayette directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Pender; parents, Ohie and Vista White; and sister, Amy Smelley.
Survivors include her sisters, Faye Sanford Walker, Martha Fields, and Sarah Jo Parrish; and brother, Leon White.
She was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Mrs. Pender felt blessed that God had given her a servant's heart. She served others regardless of her own health or circumstances. She fought a good fight, loved a good life, and now this special angel is at home and at rest.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. John M. Straughn, Jr., Associates and staff at UAB Women's Oncology, Alacare staff, R.N. Tanya, Bernice, Diedra, and Melody for pampering her daily. And last but not least, Jon Statham, her chauffeur to treatments. He kindly referred to her as driving Mrs. Daisy.
