TUSCALOOSA Marjorie Iona Blatsios Stephen, age 85, of Tuscaloosa, died Feb. 9, 2013, at Hospice of West Alabama. Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, is in charge of arrangements.

Iona was born December 15, 1927, in Dothan, Alabama and attended the University of Alabama. She taught ballroom dancing in earlier years and lived with an artist's verve for life. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were blessed with a loving, generous, and devoted friend and the best cook east and west of the Mississippi. lona brought music and magic to her family, and she was grateful for her time spent at the Crisis Center helping others.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Dewey Hornsby Blatsios and Andrew P. Blatsios, and her sister, Christine Blatsios Ennis of Dothan.

She is survived by her children, James Stephen, Billy Stephen (Linda), and Cay Stephen; and her grandchildren, Amanda Stephen Wright, Rabin' Monroe, Brandon Kane, and Billy Stephen, who will miss her earthly presence.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
