ALICEVILLE Mary Eleanor R. Howell, age 95, of Aliceville, formerly of Fairfield, died Jan. 19, 2013, at Aliceville Manor Nursing Home. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel with Dwight Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Valhalla Cemetery with Valhalla Funeral Home of Midfield directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Mrs. Howell was a native of Lewiston and resident of Fairfield for most of her adult life. She was an inactive member of DAR, various garden clubs, and Fairfield Highlands Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis B "Hank" Howell; her parents, Dr. William H and Mary Hales Richardson; and two sisters, Frances I Richardson and Willie Hillary R. Thompson.
She is survived by her son, Mike Howell (Trish) of Lewiston; her stepson, Johnny Howell (Bettye) of Birmingham; her grandson, Vince Howell (April) of Hoover; her granddaughter, Amanda Story (Dr. Brian) of Decatur; her step-grandson, Del Howell (Robin) of Birmingham; her step-granddaughter, Hollye Howell of Birmingham; and her great-grandchildren, Parker Story, Brock Story, Abbey Grace Howell, and Ben Howell.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one's favorite charity.
