TUSCALOOSA Nell Perkins Bethany, age 85, of Tuscaloosa, died April 26, 2013, at Capstone Village. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home with The Rev. Hoyt Winslett officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in St. Mark's Episcopal Church Cemetery in Boligee with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Perkins Tieche.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Joe Bethany, Jr.; daughters, Rhoda Bethany Mahan, Cassandra Bethany Riggs (George), and Margaret Bethany Corbae (Dean); sister, Carolyn Perkins Cummins; brother, Neal Carrington Perkins; grandchildren, Cassandra Mahan Henry (Zach), Megan Elizabeth Mahan, Bethany Lia Corbae, Paul Joseph Corbae, Elena Marie Corbae, Elizabeth Parke Riggs, and Lewis Bethany Riggs.
Nell grew up in Clintwood, Va. She was a graduate of Duke University School of Nursing 1950. She married Dr. Joe Bethany, Jr., on June 25, 1953. She moved to Eutaw, Ala. in 1960 where they lived until moving to Tuscaloosa in 2003. She was a charter member of Capstone College of Nursing Board of Visitors and a long time active member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Eutaw, Alabama.
Pallbearers will be Dean Corbae, Paul Corbae, George Riggs, Lewis Riggs, John Jester, Norton Prout, Rip Banks, and Brock Jones.
Honorary pallbearers are the staff of Hallmark Manor and Traditions Way at Capstone Village.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Bethany Family endowed scholarship in nursing, P.O. Box, 870358, Tuscaloosa, AL 35487.
