CLEMSON, S.C. Dr. Rudolph Abramovich, age 83, of Clem-son, S.C., formerly of Tusca-loosa, died Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at home, after a life-long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today, November 29, 2013, at Evergreen City Ceme-tery with Rabbi Steven Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home, a Dig-nity Memorial Provider, direct-ing.

He was born and grew up in Alexandria, Egypt, and em-barked on an academic career that took him from King Farouk University to King's College in London, to the Weizman Insti-tute in Israel, to the University of Saskatoon in Canada, and finally to Clemson University. From 1967 to 1977, he was a Research Professor at the Uni-versity of Alabama. In his ca-reer he garnered much recog-nition, including a commemo-rative issue in 2001 of the Ar-chive for Organic Chemistry in honor of his 70th birthday.

In addition to his wife, Dorota Abramovich, he is sur-vived by a son, Daniel Abramovich (Susan Alters), of Palo Alto, Calif.; two daughters, Paula Porter (Robert), of Cen-tral, S.C., and Anna Holbrook (John), of Atlanta, Ga.; his brother, Michael Ram (Edna), of Buffalo, N.Y.; and six grand-sons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lazar and Elise Ram; his first wife, Lillian Green; and his son, Michael.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the MUSC Kidney Transplant Center, 162 Ashley Ave., MSC 586, Charleston, S.C. 29425 or the local chapter of the SC Alzheimer's Associa-tion, 4124 Clemson Blvd. – Ste. L, Anderson, S.C. 29621.
