NORTHPORT Matthew Brian Allen, age 26, of Northport, died March 23, 2010, at Northport Medical Center-DCH. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Bruce Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary Frances Wright, his grandfather, Frank Oliver Allen, and his aunt, Janice Wright.

Survivors include his wife, Jamie Lynn Allen of Northport; his sons, Jacob Lane Allen and Nathan Tyler Allen of Northport; his brother, Wesley Heath Allen (Amy) of Northport; his parents, David and Donna Allen of Northport; and his grandparents, Bud and Sandra Wright and Alene Allen, all of Cullman.

Matthew was a loving husband and daddy and a caring son, brother, and friend. He attended Huntington Elementary School until he began homeschooling taught by his mother. He started work at an early age as a coalminer, having come from a long line of coalminers from his grandfather, father, and brother, and worked in the mines until he became injured. Afterwards, he stayed home with his wife and helped raised their two boys. Matt will be missed greatly by all who loved and knew him.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Allen, Donald Havey, Ricky Johnson, Stephen Cooper, Darrell Allen, Richard Allen, Robbie Yeates, and Kenny Roy.

Honorary pallbearers are Northport DCH Emergency Room and ICU nurses and doctors, Fred Ingold, Lewis, Smyth & Winter Law Firm, and friends and family on Facebook.
