TUSCALOOSA | Ernest L. Metcalf, age 80, of Tuscaloosa, died April 2, 2014, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ron Martin and Rev. Wes Pate officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J. M. and Alice Metcalf; and brothers, James Metcalf and Joseph Metcalf.
Survivors include his wife, Lanette G. Metcalf; his children, Martha M. Pate, Mark Metcalf (Gail), and Julia Baggett; grandchildren, Wes Pate (Ellen), Tracy Pate Williams (Taylor), Kasie Metcalf, Laura Metcalf, Melodie Black (Kyle), Jarrod Baggett (Vicki) and Grant Baggett; and great-grandchildren, Will, Ian, Emma, Maddix, Anna Grace, Logan, and Chloe.
Pallbearers will be Wes Pate, Taylor Williams, Jarrod Baggett, Grant Baggett and Kyle Black.
Ernest and his family would like to recognize these special people: Cottondale Community Church, Shelton State Woodworking and Small Engines, Tannehill Wood Carvers, Black Warrior Wood Turners, WAWA, South Central Bell, Lewis & Faye Manderson Cancer Center and friends and neighbors of Alberta City.
