KNOXVILLE | Carole Jones Phillips, of Knoxville, died April 24, 2014, at St. Vincent's Hospital. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2014, at Mesopotamia Cemetery in Eutaw with Reverend Jim Richwine officiating and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Following the service the family will be greeting relatives and friends at First Presbyterian Church of Eutaw, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James C. Jones and Eunice S. Jones; and her brothers, James Jones, Jr. and Reginald Jones.
Survivors include her husband, Julian Phillips of Knoxville; sons, Brian Phillips (Jill) of Hoover and Douglas Phillips of Knoxville; daughter, Charlotte Phillips of Mountain Brook; grandchildren, Ashton Sinclair of Mountain Brook, Mary Parker Phillips and Carlton Phillips of Hoover, Ford Taylor and Coleman Taylor of Mountain Brook; and devoted dog, Max.
She enjoyed spending time playing bridge and socializing with her friends at Capstone Village and the First Presbyterian Church of Tuscaloosa, Ala. In previous years, she served as president of Women in Church (WIC) at the First Presbyterian Church of Eutaw, Ala. She was actively involved in the Trinity Luncheon Club and the Eutaw Lunch Bunch. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, whom were the loves of her life.
Pallbearers will be Dr. William Rucker Staggers, Fred Colson, Gavin Edgar, Mark Odom, Cooper Patton, and Thom Smith.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Stephen Beck, Dr. Mack Barnes, the MICU and Oncology Staff of St. Vincent's Hospital and her numerous friends that were so dear to her heart.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to the Palmer Home of Columbus, Miss. or the in her memory.
