MADISON William A. Booker, Jr., age 83, of Madison, died Dec. 23, 2009, at Valley View Health & Rehabilitation. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Victor Bonner and Rev. Cecil Berry officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Booker; his daughter, Donna Vickery; his son, Andy Booker; three granddaughters, Nicole Vickery, Jenna Vickery, and Heather Bishop; his sister, Carolyn Gore; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. Booker, Sr. and Nellie Booker; his brother, Paul Booker; and two sisters, Inelle Wofford and Elaine Breed.

Mr. Booker was born in Selma, served in World War II, was employed by Hayes Aircraft and Birmingham Ornamental Iron, and retired from Dixie Steel & Supply Co. He was a member of Cave Springs Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Earl Bannerman, Alvin Bannerman, Michael Vickery, Bryan Vickery, Charles Bannerman, and John Bannerman.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. and Mrs. Willis Vickery, Ruby Avery, Rella Savage, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Duran, Mr. and Mrs. Craig Booker, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Williams, Bernice Owens, Sadie Bolton, neighbors of Wellington Subdivision, neighbors of Skidmore Rd, ER and 2 West staff at Huntsville Hospital, Valley View Health & Rehabilitation staff, and The Terrace at Priceville staff.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First United Methodist Church of Decatur or the .
