Thanks Coach "Popcorn" Blackmon for the contributions you made to my life and many other students during your tenure at U.S. Jones. Thanks for teaching us how to win and how to manage defeat on and off the basketball court. Many of the things you taught us, I cherish dearly even until this day. Especially, thanks for encouraging me academically and athletically, had it not been for your insistence that I apply myself, I am certain I would have come up short in more than one area of my life. May God have mercy on your soul and comfort your family's grieving hearts. We will miss you, but we shall not forget you. Minister Grady N. Greene--The Third Cross Congregation--Atlanta, Georgia

Coach Blackmon was a mentor to both girls and guys in the Demopolis school system. He never missed an opportunity to give lessons about life to us. He wanted all of us to succeed. I pray God's peace for you, family.

Annettte,
I have been trying to get in touch with you all weekend, but to no avail. I know this is a very difficult time for you. You have been in my thoughts and prayers since hearing about Coach Blackmon's passing. Please know that I will keep you and the family in prayer. I love you and hope to see/visit with you soon. Know that God makes no mistakes and always lean on Him. He loves and cares for all of you.
