GORDO Retired Chief Master Sgt. Robert L. Austin, age 66, of Gordo, died May 1, 2011, at home. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at Crews Cemetery in Sulligent with Rev. Noah Jones officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry Wayne Austin.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Bush Austin of Gordo, Ala.; daughters, Margaret Matyjasik and husband, Richard of Gordo, Ala. and Teresa Eller and husband, Joe of Omaha, Neb.; brothers, Roger Austin of Coker, Ala. and Joeseph Austin (Anne) of Northport, Ala.; four grandchildren, Christopher Matyjasik of Mt. Holley, N.J., Ashley Frantz (Eric) of Wichita, Kan., and Zachary Matyjasik and Cameron Matyjasik, both of Gordo, Ala.; one great-grandchild, Matty Frantz; and eight nieces and nephews. Mr. Austin was born Sept. 15, 1944, in Birmingham, Ala. to the late Walton Lincoln W.L. Austin and Mary Nell Pennington Austin. He was a member of the Methodist faith and a retired Chief Master Sergeant for the U.S. Air Force with 28 years of service.
