Madison Ryland Obituary

BROOKWOOD Madison Nichole Ryland, age 13, of Brookwood, died Jan. 4, 2013, at home. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Gary Bonner officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Survivors include her mother, Jessica Wilson (Chris); her father, John Ryland (Terri); and her brothers, Micah Stimac (Kaeleigh), Teagan Ryland, and Finneas Ryland, all of Northport.

Despite being born with a rare condition called Walker-Warburg Syndrome, Madison went on to attend the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind as well as Sprayberry Education Center. Greatly surpassing the lifespan given to her at birth, she touched the life of anyone who spent time with her.

With an infectious smile and a joyous laugh, she taught us all so much about grace under fire and resiliency. Her fierce determination and angelic face made everyone in her life a better person for having known her. She will be loved and missed greatly by anyone who ever met her.

Pallbearers will be Micah Stimac, Jeremy Beavers, Brian Sanders, Allen Sullivan, Evin Ryland, and Kelvie Edgel.

Honorary pallbearers are Hospice of West Alabama, the staff of Sprayberry Regional Education Center, and Arlene Stokes.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to MDA or Children's of Alabama.

My heart is happy for Madison, she is in Heaven, no longer suffering and in pain, but at the same time my heart is heavy for the loved ones she has left behind. I have no doubt she is an angel in Heaven, as she was here on earth. She is with Mommow Beavers, and they will be there waiting for you. Until then, may God bless each of you with peace and serenity in your hearts. May you have a smile on your face when you see her in your minds eye. She will live on forever, not just in Heaven, but in our hearts
