James Hardemon Obituary

COTTONDALE | James E. "Bo" Hardemon, age 89, of Cottondale, died Feb. 13, 2014, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Grace Hardemon; brothers, Hoyt, John D, and Rufus Hardemon, Jr.; and his sisters, Pauline Lowery, Jenny Mitchell, and Betty Kellum.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Joyce Hardemon of Cottondale, Ala.; daughter, Pamela H. Conley (Bobby) of Cottondale, Ala.; son, Keith Lynn Hardemon (Tina) of Cottondale, Ala.; his brothers, Clyde Hardemon and Billy C. Hardemon; and his grandchildren, Brian Hardemon, Brad Hardemon, Marybeth Sawyers, and Trey Conley.
James was born in Woodstock, Ala., he graduated from West Blocton High School. He Served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the 87th Chemical Mortar Battalion. He retired from the U.S. Bureau of Mines after 35 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Coldwater Masonre Lodge. He attended Cottondale Baptist Church. He was married to the love of his life for 60 long years and was a wonderful daddy to his children. All of the grandchildren loved their "Pa". He was an avid reader and loved listening to the Grand Ole Opry.
Pallbearers will be Brian Hardemon, Brad Hardemon, Trey Conley, Danny Kellum, Brian Kellum, Stephen Hardemon, and Matthew Hardemon.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Rev. Ben Corley, Mrs. Jewel Boozer, James Deer, Mr. and Mrs. John Prince, friends at Cottondale Baptist Church, neighbors of Canyon Lake, Dr. Brian Wilhets, Dr. Jeanne Lipscomb, and nurses on 1st and 3rd ICU's and the 6th floor, and former employees of The U.S. Bureau of Mines.
