GREENSBORO | Barbara Robertson Drury, age 81, of Greensboro, died March 12, 2014, in Tuscaloosa. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2014 at First United Methodist Church of Greensboro with Dr. Nathan Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel directing. Visitation will be Friday one hour prior to services at the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Brady Robertson and Ruth Woolley Robertson and her husband, Wallace Foote Drury.
Survivors include her daughter, Dena Drury Prince (Robert) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; sons, Wallace Foote Drury, Jr. (Anne Burt) and Charles Brady Drury (Barbara) both of Greensboro, Ala.; sisters, Patricia Robertson Higdon and Sue Ellen Robertson Massengale, of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Mary Robertson Johnson (John Allen) of Gardendale, Ala.; grandchildren, Jenny Drury West (Jimmy), Charles Brady Drury, Jr., Wallace Foote Drury, III (Sarah Beth), Willis Drury Prince, Grace Robertson Prince, all of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Mary Elizabeth Byrd Garvey (Bradford) of New York, N.Y.; and great-grandchildren, Lily Grace West and Hudson Dean West of Tuscaloosa and Elizabeth Ann Garvey and Caroline Cole Garvey of New York, N.Y.
Mrs. Drury was born on September 27, 1932 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She was educated in the public schools of Greensboro, Ala. and upon graduation attended college at Huntingdon where she received her undergraduate degree. She later earned her masters degree in Social Work from the University of Alabama. She worked for many years with the Hale County Department of Human Resources where she served as Director until her retirement in 1991.
Pallbearers will be Charles Brady Drury, Jr., Wallace Foote Drury, III, Clint Robertson Crawford, Jimmy West, Donald Evan Wedgeworth and Jack Neal Glass.
Because of their many years of faithful caring service, the family would like to recognize as honorary pallbearers Geneva Williams, Rebecca Mickens and Barbara Craig.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greensboro First United Methodist Church, 1404 Main Street, Greensboro, AL 36744 or to the donor's favorite charity.
